A week or so ago, Murphy wrote that an ALMS “high official” said the second half of the season could see “six, or four, or two new entrants.” Well, the Bear’s now knows what those (your guess here) are. (A comment in regard to Steve you-know-who-but-the-Bear-embargoed-mention-of-the-car interview is added below.) (more…)

One issue constantly bantered about among elitist sports car racing fans is how the ALMS supposedly has a much better television schedule than the NASCAR road racing entity known as the Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Royal Crown Cola. (It’s hard to keep up, but isn’t that The Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16? -Murphy-) (more…)
Murphy’s Punter’s Guide to the 92nd Indianapolis 500
Saturday, May 24th, 2008For the second time, the Bear’s done a guest turn over at the Last Turn Clubhouse, with his punter’s guide. He’s gaining some renown in the paddock for his insightful guides, done for Sebring, Le Mans, and Indy. After careful study of the grid, the Bear’s provided some bonus observations.

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008The Bear popped over to O’Conner’s Pub last week for an evening of memories, helicopters, personalities, software, hardware and two-time losers in motorsport. Murphy likes Irish pubs, of course, but some, like O’Conner’s, aren’t big on fine wine. Or even not-so-fine. The sweet young thing barkeep had little bottles with screw caps. Merlot. Cabernet? Nope, merlot. Pinot? Nope, merlot. Ok, I’ll have a merlot. (more…)
A Marriage Made in Hell?
Thursday, May 15th, 2008Murphy should have posted his next Poop, and in fact, it’s just about three-quarters done. Then along comes A.C., top-notch-big-time journalist that he is, with a column “right out of the headlines,” Ok, maybe not exactly headlines, but a forum or two, after Roger E. was on that program called ”Wind Passing” (or something like that) on Speedtv. Well, Murphy just had to get it out there while the wind was still warm. As for the Bear, he’ll be around the Paddock in Utah, looking for dirt.-Murphy-

Oil and water. The Hatfields and McCoys. Israel and Palestine. You get the idea.
Every so often we hear about possible unification of sports car racing in North America. Ain’t gonna happen! The reason is quite simple: The NASCAR Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Royal Crown Cola is so wildly popular, there is no reason to merge with the hapless ALMS. (more…)
