It’s pretty tough to stay ahead of the news in an economic environment that’s shaking up everything you know about racing. For the most part, Murphy hasn’t tried, letting the announcements, like this week’s that the 2009 Le Mans test days will be cancelled, tell the fast-moving story
But the Bear is hearing some things now that bear (har, har) reporting.
Braselton Bear Market?
Though Audi will be back, Corvette Racing continues on course, and Mazda hopes for a much more visible (and viable) on-track program, each of them are axing less-visible “off-track” programs, like support for events and series, and that includes IMSA/ALMS. Add losses of some smaller sponsors and it equals a big revenue hit for Braselton, big enough to require some expense cutting. (more…)
