Murphy announces his 1st Annual Christmas Quiz

Murphy’s been promising a quiz for you racing anoraks, and he’s finally got it pulled together. First, today, rules and prizes. Questions will be posted tomorrow. The deadline for your answers is midnight Eastern Standard Time (US) December 14th.

It’s been hard work in this Google era to formulate questions that don’t just amount to a web-search contest. Murphy hopes he’s been successful. A friend who reviewed the questions thought they were very difficult –perhaps too difficult. So don’t be discouraged; you won’t know unless you submit an entry how your knowledge “stacks up.” Murphy’s elves (you know who you are) are not eligible.

The quiz consists of 20 questions of varying point value each, a total of 107 points. The highest point score will win the grand prize, with the second highest the second prize, and so on. Ties will be resolved by a drawing (the Bear will conduct it) in which the tied entries are included. The first entry so drawn will win the higher level prize, the second the second, etc. Thus, for example, if three tie for the highest score, they will be drawn, and in order, be awarded the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes. The next highest score would then be awarded the 4th prize.

Here are the prizes:
