Murphy extends his wishes for a very happy Christmas.

God bless us, every one!

Go with God, Jeannie

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Murphy’s lost his adoptive mother and best friend Jean Marie, who died the evening of November 29, 2007. Murphy was on her bed.

She found Murphy, a small Gund bear, alone and naked, in a Sonoma bed and breakfast in 2004, and immediately adopted him. His first race was just a week later at Laguna Seca, though he didn’t write his first column until July 2005. (Jeannie’s contributions to race coverage over many years is described here, at Last Turn Clubhouse.)

Murphy’s not sure what will become of him now, but he’s certain nothing ever again will be quite the same.

Farewell, Jeannie.

Hello world!

Those of you who have been readers in the past know that Murphy’s columns have never been released on a reliable schedule.  That’s consistent with his content – scurrilous rumor and irresponsible speculation.  Well, this time he’s been even more unpredictable, but finally here is his sixteenth installment of Paddock Poop.

As you can see, and as many of you already know, Murphy has moved from his former home at www.dailysportscar.com.  Although that site remains (in Murphy’s opinion) among the premier information sources for anyone interested in sports car racing, circumstances have conspired to put Murphy out on his own.   Thus this unorthodox method of distribution for his musings.  He may yet land in a more conventional setting, but for now, this is it.

Enjoy this free-wheeling view of the Series and its goings-on behind the scenes, but remember as you do that the Bear doesn’t guarantee everything will turn out as he describes.  If he waited for that, it would be news, and the Bear is not your source for news.  Just scurrilous rumor and irresponsible speculation.
