Murphy had almost forgotten the IRL scribe’s penchant for tossing out ”the big one” – almost. So it really wasn’t a big surprise when he floated a rumor that Grand Am would purchase/had purchased the ALMS. The Bear had to scramble to find the “team principal” from whom the scribe had heard the story, in the end without success. If there was such a statement, no one was owning up to it (and that’s no surprise, either). (more…)

The Bear’s sources once again cut through the BS, correctly reporting last week that the Ginetta-Zytek 09HS was not ACO homologated, and would not run as a hybrid in any official session at Utah. The attempt to present the entry as an “historic debut of a hybrid race car” strikes the Bear as a bit distasteful. (more…)

The Porsche GT2 field – for Sebring and beyond – seems to be growing.

The Bear hasn’t been very positive about VICI Racing in the 2009 season; after all, they didn’t do a full season in 2008, and rarely fielded the hoped-for two cars. But they are reported to have entered two cars at Sebring, and are expected in some quarters to contest the remainder of the season.

The report of a Falken-sponsored Porsche 911 GT3 has been ‘confirmed’ by a second source, so we’ll now put that one in the ‘probable’ column. (more…)
