To be honest, Murphy had just about dispaired of ever again hearing from A.C. The Bear passed along the many messages begging for the great journalist’s return. Those from northwest Florida were particularly troubling, the Bear fearing that some of A.C.’s biggest fans might hurt themselves if A.C. didn’t soon again grace these pages. So, with an immense feeling of relief, Murphy is happy to welcome the world’s greatest motorsports journalist back to Murphy the Bear’s blog.-MHB-

The Daytona round of the Rolex Ganassi-Am Series (Editor’s note – apparently a Freudian slip by AC) was spectacular. The Most Interesting Man in the World won yet another race in dominating fashion, again proving he is our generation’s Juan Manuel Fangio. And all this despite the fact NASCAR forced them to race with a stock BMW engine from a spectator’s car, installed just hours before the race by the 10th grade shop class from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach. The win by Scott Pruett and the other guy should quiet the disillusioned Grand-Am fans that complain the series is boring and predictable. I think. (more…)

What many scribes and snappers heard in the Le Mans paddock led them to conclude that the American LM-P1 will get its approval after all. What’s behind that upbeat attitude in the Corvette contingent? Murphy’s been told that one GM NASCAR groupie blocked the prototype project. He’s gone – to Europe – so when it’s submitted again the answer has a better chance to be “yes.” That’s assuming that the General’s dire financial straits don’t now torpedo that – and more.
